DOVE: Reading Partners- semester long commitment sign up

Program Description:  Volunteers will work one-on-one with elementary school students at a local school to help strengthen their literacy skills, build confidence, and develop a love of reading. Volunteers use structured lesson plans and materials provided by Reading Partners and receive training and ongoing support throughout their experience. No previous teaching or tutoring experience is required. The first week of programming will be a mandatory orientation so all new volunteers must be in attendance.

**This program is a semester-long commitment. By registering for this opportunity you are expected to serve at this program until the end of the semester. The reason some DOVE programming is structured like this is to create a sense of consistency for our more vulnerable partners, and to allow for volunteers to build relationships throughout the semester.

Upon registration the dates you are committing to serve are:
Wednesdays
3:30 pm - 6 pm
9/23 virtual training, 10/7 in person, 10/14, 10/21, 10/28, 11/4, 11/11, 11/18 12/2, 12/9

 Once registered, students will receive a email confirmation and will be contacted in September regarding any required onboarding paperwork and training needed. All trainings will occur during the scheduled event.

DOVE Transportation: The event timing and volunteer hours outlines the time volunteers will leave campus and the time volunteers will return to campus. Volunteers will meet the DOVE van on Seton Hall's campus Green between the University Center and Boland Hall (across from the cafeteria entrance). As part of DOVE's policy students must all leave and return to campus together unless given special permission to do otherwise. 

DOVE Volunteer Absentee Policy:  The success of every DOVE program depends on volunteers showing up.  If you are signed up for a program and cannot attend, it is your responsibility to unregister within 2 days of the event. This will open up your spot to the next available volunteer. In case of an emergency volunteers must give their program coordinator 24-hour notice.  Any volunteer who misses THREE volunteer programs without notice will no longer be able to continue volunteering with DOVE.  Additionally, DOVE will not be able to verify or sign off on any completed volunteer hours for students that miss three programs.
